RE: Brown bubble windows on an S&S

Yes, Coors Lab is what its called. The school is why I was there a lot. I had a long distance romance for many years with one of its students. I should have left her there as we got along beautifully with 1500 miles separating us:-) The last time I was there you were limited to two, but you could leave and come back. Am I strange, or does anyone else love that brewery smell?
I haven't tried anything yet, but I think I am going to make a run at the windows with the Meguire's polish today. It is what I have in the garage.

RE: Brown bubble windows on an S&S

Yeah, I love the windows too now. I guess they stopped them last year. Thanks for the link, I'll give one or all of them a try. Did you ever use the Plexus?
BTW, I used to spen a lot of time in Golden. Beautiful town and I figured out how to skip the majority of the Coors tour and get right to the end:-)

Brown bubble windows on an S&S

I can't figure out how to get a search to cooperate with me. I know I've read the answers to my question here before, but at the time I didn't have an S&S. It must have slipped from my brain as useless knowledge.
Well, I finally own a fine example of one of those funny windowed campers and want to shine them up. I have some Meguire's Clear Plastic Polish, but it hasn't stopped raining to give it a shot. What other or better tricks have any fellow S&S owners used to bring those windows back to new again (if that's possible)?

No battery shut off

I've looked everywhere on this 96 Western Wilderness I just bought for a shut off. Is this something I might not have?

RE: Camper is too long

I've talked to so more people after reading the first few posts. Since I've been here, it seems that most other posts are in agreement with the first few and in agreement with what I've researched. The custom welding shop told me to just go with TL, so that's what I'll do. I'm going to put air bags under it and going to go ahead and also going to put the clips on my trailer for weight distribution. I'll never let it weigh 14,000 lbs, though with that set up it is supposed to be good at 28" to 12,000. The most it will be is the trailer with two Willys CJ3A's on the back (so no more than 9,000)
I don't like feeling the least bit out of control. I hoping this camper, though the same weight, feels a little better than the last one. The AF860 was so tall and there was so much weight up high with the slide and the fact that the thing was just plain tall. I haven't measured, but I know this camper is probably more than a foot lower on the truck. I won't get a feel for it until I get my Stable-Lift put on so I can actually drive it somewhere.
The shop is going to put the Torque Lift on my truck for a little under $1k. The Reese Tow Beast would be about $300 cheaper but would technically be under rated for what I want to do.

RE: Camper is too long

I have an 07 Dodge 2500 diesel. I'm not worried about moving the weight, I hauled Dad's car trailer with my AF 860. I downgraded to an older longer camper (10.9 Western Wilderness). This camper weighs about the same as the AF did but I didn't have to deal with the rear overhang.
My Dad gave me a name of a welding shop that he knows of that specializes in towing mods. I want to be safe and legal as economically as I can.

RE: Battery (dual or single)

Well, I think two it will be.
Speaking of batteries, I haven't located the turn off. Might it not have one? The camper is a 96 Western Wilderness Raineer 10.9.

RE: Battery (dual or single)

I'm w/o hook ups most of the time. With my fox, I'd go a couple days w/o worrying about it even in the winter. I'd just fire the truck up and let it run at 1500 RPM for a while and the indicator would say it was charged again.
I was just wondering if I could do as well with one bad boy instead of two mediocres.

RE: Camper is too long

Sorry, I should have stated how much I'll be towing. Usually no more than 9000, but if I tow Dad's race car, it could get up to 14,000. Will that tow beast handle that?

RE: Stablelift design - what makes it "stable"

I've been watching this thread for a few days. I've always wanted this system, especially having dropped a camper in the dirveway once. Loading and unloading has always been nerve racking to me, even with my electric jacks.
Hopefully I scored a deal on a DRW three jack for $1200. I've just got to figure out how to install it now (not too talented).

Battery (dual or single)

I have room for two batteries but there is only one there. It is dead so I have to replce it. Is there much of a need to keep two there? What do folks find to be the best battery for a camper?

Camper is too long

See what happens when I get a "great deal"? I've been looking for an older 9'ish so I can still easily tow my equipment trailer. I thought I was on to something when the trailer manufacturer said I can extend the tongue on the trailer a couple feet. Well that works great turning but I'd better never leave Kansas.
I guess I need some sort of extended hitch. What works best for the money? I need at least 24". I was told I'd be spending about $1300 with install.
